Does Walgreens Accept EBT Card for Food Stamps?

Does Walgreens accept EBT Card for Food Stamps or SNAP Benefit? Well in this article, we shall find out if YES or NO. Walgreens is the largest drugstore in the U.S, with over 8,200 company-operated stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Based on the list of eligible food items you are allowed to buy with food stamps, there is a very limited choice of things you can buy with your card at a drug store, compared to a farmers market or grocery store/supermarket.

Does Walgreens Accept EBT Card for Food Stamps?

The answer to that question is YES. Walgreens Accept EBT Card for Food Stamps. According to Walgreens payment options, customers can use their EBT cards at select Walgreens stores. But they have to contact their store for program details.

What can you buy with EBT Card?

Below are some of the list of food items approved by the United States Department of Agriculture for EBT Cardholders. Furthermore, we have also included what not to buy with your food stamp benefits.

You are allowed to use your SNAP benefits to buy foods for the household to eat, such as:

  • Bread and cereals
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Meats, fish and poultry and dairy products.
  • Seeds and plants which produce food for the household to eat.

However, you CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy any of the following:

  • Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco
  • Any nonfood items, such as pet foods, soaps, paper products
  • Vitamins and medicines
  • Household supplies
  • Food that will be eaten in the store
  • Hot foods

As you can see, it’s better to use your EBT Card at a grocery store where you can get most items you can buy that are allowed on the list of approved food items. However, if you don’t have transportation and can only shop at convenience stores and pharmacies, maybe you should consider shopping at any farmers markets in your area.
