California EBT Card Balance Checking Methods

Looking for a way to check the balance on your California EBT Card? Well, this post will outline the various methods in checking your California EBT Card Balance. In the state of California, it’s the benefits are shared to SNAP recipients via a plastic Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. This enables low-income families to purchase nutritious food with their monthly food assistance benefits. It’s the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is responsible for administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Food Stamp Program.

California EBT Payment Schedule

The California EBT Card, which is also known as the Golden State Advantage Card, contains the food assistance benefits assigned to you every month. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) deposits the benefits to your EBT card according to the schedule below:

If your Case Number ends in Benefits are deposited on the
1 1st of the month
2 2nd of the month
3 3rd of the month
4 4th of the month
5 5th of the month
6 6th of the month
7 7th of the month
8 8th of the month
9 9th of the month
0 10th of the month

Ways To Check California EBT Card Balance

Below are different options you can follow to successfully check the balance on your Golden State Advantage Card Balance.

1. Check Your Last Transaction Receipt

The first option for checking your California EBT Card balance is to take a look at your last receipt. This is the easiest and quickest way to view the current balance on your California EBT Card.

You will see your balance will be stated at the bottom of your most recent grocery store or an ATM receipt. Ensure you keep your most current EBT receipt if you want to quickly find out or check your balance before you shop.

2. Check by Phone

Another means for checking your California EBT Card balance is by phone. Just pick your phone and call the EBT Customer Service number (1-877-328-9677) on the back of your card. Once you call, you will be required to provide your sixteen (16) digit EBT card number in order to hear your current food assistance or cash account balances. Note that the Customer Service Hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

3. Login to Advantage Card Account

The last option for checking your California EBT Card balance is online through the Advantage Card website.California EBT Card Balance

You just need to visit the ebt.ca.gov sign-in page, and then enter your card number. Once you are logged in, you’ll be able to view your current balance and transaction history. In the situation where you don’t have an ebtEDGE account, you can create an Advantage Card Account now.

NOTE: If your card is lost, stolen or damaged call EBT Customer Service at 1-877-328-9677 right away.

Your county or the state will never text or call you requesting your personal information such as your EBT card number and your personal identification number (PIN).

If you are contacted about your EBT account, you should not provide any personal information. If you think your benefits may have been stolen, you should immediately call the customer service telephone number on the back of your EBT card, (877) 328-9677, or contact your county social services agency.

  • Ensure that you never release out your personal information to anyone, or you could have your benefits stolen.
  • Make your EBT card number and PIN a secret.
  • Never give out your social security number, EBT card number or PIN to anyone.
